The Murrieta Canyon Academy Project replaces an existing campus of portable classrooms. Originally an independent study program facility, the District provides many small programs that cannot be duplicated at their comprehensive high school campuses. The District decided that the long-term goals for the campus could be achieved more quickly by constructing a completely new campus on adjacent field area from a neighboring middle school. The campus is designed as an adult environment in recognition of the autonomy most of the high school aged students have in their typical day. The campus provides a sense of place for the students in to call their own. Spaces provided will assist in providing learning environments, spaces for socialization and building community, and spaces for collaborative learning.
