CULTURE

At the BakerNowicki design studio, three primary themes are the foundation of our life and professional philosophy:

ATTITUDE

Firm Culture is built on fundamental principles that inform our professional behavior. We believe in integrity, hard work, humble service and extraordinary results. For us, architecture must be designed to meet the needs of the broad community of users and provide a positive and meaningful experience. Our designs must also be environmentally responsible and work effectively for their intended users. They will outlive us and must speak of our vision and commitment to future generations.

ENVIRONMENT

We provide creative ideas to resolve complex problems so we work in a creative studio atmosphere that promotes innovative thinking. Our integrated planning processes encourage ideas that speak to issues in new ways. Through collaboration our design teams apply their collective expertise to develop unexpected solutions.

COMMUNITY

We are the community we serve so it is our obligation and pleasure to give back where we can. Our team is actively involved in such pursuits as sponsoring scholorships for City College students through Friends of Downtown; preparing youth for business through Jr. Achievement; support for our military through programs such as United Through Reading and the Wounded Warrior Project; and Social Advocates for Youth (SAY) with our annual holiday sponsorship of families in need.

MENTORSHIP

Our firm focuses not just on building buildings, but also on building professionals. We develop our staff with the long term in mind, providing each person with individual development opportunities. We encourage all staff to seek architectural licensure. We work in focused teams that see projects through, from start to finish. Our teams work under the experienced oversight of firm leaders, who delegate responsibilities to our teams in ways that empower decision making and growth. Our work space has no enclosed offices because we desire for all staff to know and overhear all aspects of our work. The results of these efforts are nimble teams, skilled team members, and a firm that builds trust through communication.

OUR TEAM

EMPLOYMENT

BakerNowicki is seeking self-motivated applicants to join our entrepreneurial, collaborative and innovative design culture. We are located in downtown San Diego, just a few blocks north of Petco Park in the East Village. Our collaborative design team structure leverages the individual strengths and develops the professional skill of our staff.
